forgive but NOT forget!
forgive but NOT forget!
I dont know why i keep things locked up in my heart..
i mean… when people make mistakes.. i tend to forgive.. but believe me.. i can never forget what they did to me, even if it was not on purpose..
i know there’s a contradiction in what i’m saying.. cos how can someone forgive but not forget!..
but its something that i cant control..
i mean.. its like a “wound that stops bleeding for a while then tends to bleed again”.. i may get over what they did for a while.. but once they hurt me again the scar tends to freshen up..
yes.. i know that Islam has asked us to forgive… i try my best to oblige myself to forgive and forget but.. i keep failing myself..
at times, i tell myself.. maybe i tend to forgive and not forget.. because when they hurt me at the beginning i bottle the sadness and anger in me… and then by time the sadness and anger become like words engraved on a stone.. in other words.. they cant be erased..i really dont know how to change this flaw in me..
but i hope that i can someday get rid of it completely..
1st of all, this isn’t a flaw. it’s good you can forgive..
am in this exact situation. i am needed to forgive an old friend for bailing out on me when they were most needed. and you know what, i find it soooo damn difficult to forgive them.
I feel that if i forgive them, then i get hurt by them again, then am stupid for letting them back in.. (u know kind of like *if you fool me once, shame on you, but if you fool me twice, shame on me*)
i commend you on your wonderful spirit and your ability to forgive. as 4 forgetting,, it’s not a race with time
so you can take as much time as you want. eventually u start forgetting,, or things start to fade away.
sis I’m really with you, I would forgive but not forget .. mainly I would forgot what irritated me however the negative feelings would not vanish …
But you know sis I think satan is smart he is always in our head reminding us with all things that might lead us to the worse in action nor in words …
May Allah help us to overcome these situations …
WWWWWow cool font .. good choice sis
thanks all for passing..
yeah unfortunately.. satan has his smart way missfikrah..
but inshaALlah by time as Rory said .. i will change this thing..
same here i always keep it in my heart i dont show it to poeple but then i forget.
its so easy to forget dont think about it try esh’3eling ur self with something else or make urself in her place. once omar abdulkafi said i dont really remember if it was a 7adith or something mathakar but it was that (( iltamis le2a5eeka sab3eena 3othran)). something like this
Esalam 3alaikum!!
I think this is normal..
It’s shay 6abee3y if someone hurt you every once in a while you’ll remember that thing..
As we say.. el9aafi3 ynsaa bs elma9foo3 ma ynsa..
i know what ur talkin about.. i do the same most of the timez
i try to forget ppl’z mistakes sometimes
but whenever they do another mistake
i can never forget =(
i hope this thing changez in u.. n me =)
alla yhdi eljmee3
Asalamu aleykum

Allah has swore by those three people,,of which as we proceed with the ayah,, they increase in status,,
those who cover their anger,, those who hide it,, but may also me pissed off,, that is great and takes eman to be able to do,,,
but you are a better person if not only you cover this anger,, and may like tell a person off in a softer manner,, but that you actually say i forgive you,,,,
not only that you may forgive a person,, but you actually show kindness to them,,treat them well,,treat them with 2i7saan and that is the best of eman in this case,, and Allah loves those who are mu7sineen to those whom have treated them badly..
one of the sahaba,, i guess Ali ibn 2abi taleb radiya Allahu 3anh,, had a wife that was giving birth,,and when the time came,, one of the slave servants was suppose to heat some water slightly to use it to wash the baby,,, instead she heated the water a lot,, and when she but the baby in it the baby died( somthing along this line cant remember exactly,,, when Ali found out he was so angry,, and when he saw her,, he was so angry mixed with sadness,, thatg she killed his own child with her wrecklessness,,,\
she told him
wal kathemeen al ghayth,,,, so he may Allah be pleased with him,, calmed down
so the slave servant told him,, wal 3afeen 3an enace
so he told her,, i have forgiven you
so she said Wallahu yu7ib al mu7sineen
so he told her go i have set you free from slavery

I think that there I no contradiction between them. When you forgive somebody, you don’t have to forget what he/she did. you can decide to forgive, but to forget is beyond your control & in my opinion it is better to remember. Those who hurt once are more likely to hurt another. & “the believer is not stung twice from the same hole” ..
