E for Eye
I looked at him through the window in my room, Gazing at him walking all alone in the darkness that is surrounding him, the darkness that he has been living in all his life. It doesn’t matter to him the distance that he will be crossing and he doesn’t seem to care about how difficult it is for him to reach his destination. All what he cares about is answering the calls with its beautiful rhythm that is invading his ears. Yes, he may be lacking something but still it doesn’t mean that, to him, that world has come to an end. Looking at that man, walking alone with his stick makes me realize that even if we lose something so precious doesn’t mean that we should be ungrateful for all the other things that Allah has blessed us with.
He reminds me of “ibn um maktoom”, the Sahabee in our Beloved Prophet – Peace Be Upon Him’s – era, that did the same thing. Ibn Um maktoom traveled long distances to answer the same calls, it didn’t matter to him how hard it was to reach it, but what mattered to him is to answer the calls immediately.
These two men made me pity the men I see nowadays. The men that are blessed with what these two men lack, yet they do not bother to answer the calls. Not any calls, but the calls that differentiates the Muslims from the Kafir.
Just because Allah has taken away from them their eye sights didn’t stop them from going to the Masjid to perform Salat.
The blind man that lives by my house, not only goes to the masjid to perform salat, but to perform Azan (athan) itself. SubhanAllah.
Listening to him calling the Muslims in my area makes me realize that there are a lot of males out there in this world but very few Men..
May Allah accept his good deeds, and the good deeds of all Muslims..
Ameen..
