Stingy.. Who? me?
We as Muslims know that it is our duty to help those in need for our Prophet – Peace Be Upon Him- has mentioned the benefits of doing such good deed in the hereafter. However, people tend to ignore doing humanitarian activities.. I somehow wonder why?
What should be happening is that we should be competing each other in trying to win the highest rank in paradise and not compete each other in wasting our money in things that Allah has forbidden or for the sake of just playing around with money..
Allah has mentioned in the Quran:
[17:27] Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; & the Evil One Is to His Lord (Himself) Ungrateful. (al –isra’a)
It really astonishes me when I hear mothers tell their kids to save up money for their future and don’t mention anything about donation, contributing in building a Masjid or something similar.. All what people care about nowadays is “saving up money” for their future, as if they can guarantee that they will live until the next day.
Not only that but what upsets me the most is when I see people giving out money, as if it has no value, and spend them on non-sense such as having a HUGE wedding party, buying the most expensive and heavy gold and buying the most expensive wedding gown. Don’t people know that Allah will question them about each and every amount they spend? Or is it just ignorance?
I don’t like it when people think or believe that I’m stingy, just because I refuse to play around with my money. I just like to spend my money in the right way. People call me stingy without even knowing whether I actually spend money and on what?
Do I have to go shopping daily so that I would stop being called “stingy” or should I throw a huge wedding party to satisfy the needs of people so that I would stop being called “stingy”?
I really don’t want to satisfy people’s needs but would rather please Allah for He is the most Merciful and our Creator..
May Allah have mercy on All Muslims..
Ameen
